During the massage session

I'm a bit shy. Is there a robe?
We  do not offer robes. Fear not, however!  You will be appropriately draped at all times during your session. Once we've had a chance to chat about the focus of the session, you be left alone in the room for a few minutes to disrobe to your level of comfort (yes, keep your underthings on if you are so inclined) and settle in on the massage table beneath the top sheet, belly down, face down in the face cradle.

What if I prefer my session without draping?
It is our policy to drape you properly at all times during your session.

Something's not quite right. Should I say something?
Absolutely. This is your time to relax. We always appreciate your requests and feedback. While we  may be the experts on bodywork, you are the expert on you. Just about everything from the music and volume to the angle of your face rest is adjustable. We will never be offended if you make a request to turn up the heat, add a blanket, or adjust the table, pressure or music during your session.

After your massage

Whoa. I am a little loopy. Am I OK?
It's fairly normal to feel a bit dizzy or spacey after a massage. Your body may feel lighter. (Enjoy!) Water and other beverages are available  and you can sit in the relaxation area to  reflect on how your body feels.   After the session, drink plenty of water to rehydrate and assist your newly recharged circulatory system in flushing out any cell waste released during the massage. Avoid strenuous activity, relax and allow your body to integrate the work. You may experience some soreness in the day or two after your session, especially if you don't receive regular bodywork. If you're dealing with muscle inflammation, I strongly suggest a luxurious post-massage bath of epsom salts: high in magnesium to reduce inflammation; helps to boost seratonin levels. Uh - what's not to love?

What forms of payment are acceptable?
Cash. Plastic (Visa & Mastercard) and check

Is it appropriate to tip or not tip?
Tipping is a matter of preference. It is definitely appreciated! I will always treat you with respect and appreciate your decision to work with me in either case.

The Importance of Skin Care

Why are facials important?

You exercise often, you eat right and you get frequent haircuts, so why wouldn’t you get a facial? As with most other beauty and health matters, facials help prevent and treat common problems.  Facials can help with these and many other skin ailments.

What are the benefits?

So what can you expect from facials? We credits facials with smoother texture, proper hydration, a glowing complexion, fewer breakouts and firmer skin. “Regular treatments work,”

Your facial routine will depend on your skin type, but we recommends seeing your esthetician once a month if you can manage it: “For dry skin or dehydrated skin it is more important to be diligent in winter more than summer. In summer it is more important for oily skin to get facials. Sunscreen and being outside can affect oily skin. Facials prevent problems for everyone.”

What to know before you go...

Facials are relaxing and good for you, but there can be a few uncomfortable moments in the process. But don’t worry, they’ll be well worth it in the end.

One seemingly unpleasant part: Extractions, when your esthetician deep cleans your pores. There’s a reason you shouldn’t pick at your skin at home; extractions should only be done by a trained professional esthetician.

Another thing to consider: there’s some redness that follows a facial. But don’t worry, it’ll go away in about a day! “The worst your skin will look is that same day in some cases. If your skin has a lot of breakouts, it may take a few more days to heal what was already there. But it should start improving with facials unless it’s a systemic problem. In some cases you may be referred to a Dermatologist.

Top 5 Benefits of Regular Facials

  • Increase circulation of blood: this allows the skin to facilitate the renewal of skin cells that will leave you looking fresh and glowing.
  • The fountain of youth: facials are highly effective at slowing down the aging process. Women, rejoice! The appearance of fine lines and age spots are significantly diminished, leaving your skin feeling firmer, more radiant and hydrated.
  • Tone it down: regular facials can dramatically even out skin tones and lighten dark spots on the face, making for a more youthful look.
  • Extractions: during the treatment, your professionally trained aesthetician will perform extractions to clean out your clogged pores. Extractions help stop acne formation, which is key to maintaining clear skin. You do not want to attempt this at home, as you run the risk of improperly extracting clogged pores and permanently scarring your face.
  • Go deeper: At home exfoliation can only go so far. Facials provide deeper exfoliation that is safe for your skin, helping to unclog pores, deep penetration of moisturizers and serums, while smoothing out the skin.
While we recommend getting a facial every 6 weeks, we understand it can be difficult to squeeze into your schedule. If you can aim to schedule a facial treatment at least every 8 weeks, you’ll be on the road to clearer, healthier, younger looking skin – we promise!
